Step Forward Plan
Working together for a safe return to gymnastics.
After consultation with our clubs and members, and in partnership with our Home Countries, we have created the Step Forward Plan to help the gymnastics community respond to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Through the Step Forward Plan we will provide a clear direction for the gymnastics community on what steps to take and when to take them, in line with government advice on safely returning to operations. As well as specific measures aimed at supporting clubs and members financially, the Plan includes guidance on Health & Safety, coaching during social distancing and communications to parents and gymnasts.
The plan offers support in four key areas based on our brand new approach to gymnastics. These key areas are protection, places, people, and programmes. View the full Plan here.
We’ll be releasing new guidance and resources on a weekly basis, so make sure to keep checking back regularly.
1/4/21 - Please note: the re-introduction of foam pits guidance available now supersedes all previous guidance provided on the use of foam pits once indoor sport is able to resume.
Please note: Social distancing is currently 2 metres in all home countries. In England; where you cannot stay 2 metres apart you should stay more than 1 metre apart, as well as taking extra steps to stay safe. For example: wearing a face covering, moving outdoors or ensuring indoor areas are well ventilated by keeping windows and doors open.
Some Step Forward Plan documents may state a different social distancing distance to those being enforced in your area. Please check your relevant government’s website to ensure you follow the most up-to-date distances required.
Please note: As of Monday 14th December the self-isolation period has been changed from 14 to 10 days. This now applies across all four home countries. Self-isolation is essential to reducing the spread of COVID as it breaks the chains of transmission. We’re working on updating the existing Step Forward Plan resources, however in the meantime where it states a 14 day isolation period is required, you can follow the current period of 10 days.
